The Temple

For someone in the LDS faith, attending the temple is a sort of culmination of worshipful activities. As an LDS family, we are lucky to live so close to many temples. The Oquirrh Mountain temple is the closest to us (7 miles south) and we watched its construction a few  years ago. I volunteered to help during the public open house and also helped manage the youth in our ward’s involvement in a cultural presentation given in the LDS conference center.

The temple is located on a hill overlooking the southern part of the Salt Lake Valley. From the front doors, you can also see the Draper and Jordan River temples. If you look at the temple from the east (looking west), you have to arrange your view just so you do have the copper mine staring at you. This view is a bit north and east of the temple looking at the mountains just north of Rose Canyon in Herriman.

I think the picture is really beautiful. I don’t know how much clearer you could get it. Very nice.

very nice photo, suitable for framing

  3. Did you take that picture? It is so good, very professional looking. Next thing you know Deseret Book will be selling it for $200!

  4. Yes, I did take the picture. Jen and I were going out last Friday night and I convinced her to let me get out and snap a few pictures. She was a good soldier and obliged.

The picture looks great when small; if you see the full-resolution version you’ll notice it’s not tack sharp. Time for a new lens! (Guess I’d better sell all our cars to afford one.) -Jess

That picture looks good enough to be a postcard. Great shot.
